GSI Health, a leading population health management technology company, announced today that its CEO LeRoy E. Jones has been honored with multiple awards for leadership in business and in the community, including Small Business Person of the Year presented by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and 2016 Minority Business Leader presented by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Mr. Jones has also been selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Jones founded GSI Health in 2003, with a vision of a future in which the problems of today’s healthcare are solved through healthcare IT innovation that optimizes care delivery and improves the health of individuals and entire populations. With his vast expertise in healthcare information exchange and health IT more broadly, Lee has helped several states develop architectures and operational models for healthcare information exchange, and has contributed to a number of federal programs and industry initiatives that establish standards and shape the future of healthcare IT.
“The innovative work LeRoy Jones accomplishes through GSI Health is critical in strengthening our already nationally recognized health care sector,” said Rob Wonderling, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia. “His leadership in the health care industry is helping to further establish the Greater Philadelphia region as a global life sciences hub.”
As a native Philadelphian, Mr. Jones has deep roots in the community and strives to share business expertise and provide a role model for populations and companies in the region. He is active in a number of organizations such as Vistage and Compass that partner with and advise local businesses and non-profit organizations, helping them develop sound business strategies so they can contribute to the community and local economy. He also actively promotes entrepreneurship by supporting local educational programs.
“Leadership to me is about being impactful with my life and my business, particularly within Philadelphia,” said Mr. Jones. “We want to be involved in the community we serve, and help other businesses flourish and thrive so we can make the city stronger. That’s why we do what we do, where we do it, and always loudly.”
The Small Business Person of the Year award is part of the Chamber’s 2017 Excellence Awards, recognizing exceptional leadership, ingenuity, and positive impact on the Greater Philadelphia region. Excellence Award winners will be honored on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. He has also been appointed to the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors, where he will continue to help drive economic growth within the region.
Mr. Jones was also recently honored as a 2016 Minority Business Leader by the Philadelphia Business Journal, celebrating diversity and inspirational leadership within the region’s top minority business executives. Nominees for this award were evaluated based on professional accomplishments, community leadership, philanthropy, and awards and milestones, and recognized at an awards ceremony in August.
