Senior Network Engineer

Mission

To provide customer service and technical expertise to internal users and clients of GSI Health.  This will include meeting with users to understanding requirements, and developing conceptual and logical blueprints of intended solutions to meet those requirements, including platforms, networks, security, and systems management environments. This position requires a candidate to provide day-to-day technical support to our internal customers as well as provide guidance and coaching to other members of our IT Support team. Support will include providing technical advice, guidance, and informal training to those using hardware and software programs. The position performs root cause analysis, develops checklists for typical problems, and recommends procedures and controls for problem prevention. This position is exempt.

The position reports to the Director of IT & Data Center.

Position Summary

  • Monitoring network engineering performance and ensuring system availability and reliability
  • Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN)
  • Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization
  • Providing informational system and organizational missions by completing related results as needed
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information, and by managing projects
  • Providing escalated technical support to internal customers, working incident and problem tickets to completion
  • Developing and implementing new network and VOIP solutions to meet company goals
  • Developing and testing disaster recovery and failover technologies for company network and voice services
  • Performing repairs, maintenance, and upgrades to aging network and voice infrastructure as needed
  • Supporting the company Cisco Unified Communications phone system and all related telephony technologies
  • Maintaining documentation of the company WAN/LAN infrastructure and security policies
  • Other assigned duties

Fundamental Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in designing, procuring, and installing IT systems infrastructure, including platforms, networks, security, and systems management components
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
  • Experience with the following apps and hardware are required:
    • VMware vCenter, Windows 2008, 2012, 7, and 8, Linux, Cisco
  • Experience with the following apps and hardware desired but not required:
  • VMware Horizon View, MAC OS, iOS, MySql, MSSql, Nagios, Juniper, SonicWALL, SAV, Shavlik, Office 365, SharePoint, Jira, Assembla, SalesForce, GoToMeeting, and Webex
  • Any of the following certifications are a plus:
    • VCP, CCNA, CCP-V, CompTIA A+, ACSP, ACMT, CWTS, ITIL, MCSE, MCSA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally to our datacenters, office, and client sites or other locations as required
