Integration Engineer


To plan, coordinate, supervise and execute all activities related to the building, activating, managing and maintaining interfaces. The integration specialist will work with internal and external stake holders and staff to deliver quality products and services to our clients, including integrating applications, managing the interfaces to meet client needs. This is an exempt position.

This position is part of the Technical Services team and reports to the Manager, Integrations and Interfaces.

Position Summary

The candidate’s responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Collaborate with the technical/engineering team from the customer/vendor/partner to ensure seamless and timely integration of applications into the GSIHealthCoordinator platform
  • Collaborate with GSI Health technology team members and other stakeholders in the integration testing of new software programs and applications
  • Ensure new software integration into the GSIHealthCoordinator meets functional requirements, system compliance, and other specifications
  • Ensure timely completion of activities, effective communication of status, effective documentation, and adherence to processes
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to analyze interface-level issues and resolve them as they arise
  • Support new client implementations by participating in interface building, deployment, configuration, and partner integration
  • Coordinate with a distributed team of technicians to ensure timely delivery of quality product and services to clients
  • Assist in analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and provide inputs to develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems
  • Work diligently to enhance and improve business processes via integration, and as necessary, minimize the impact of integration on those processes.
  • Evaluate results of integration projects, then report and provide inputs to improve the process based on findings
  • Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Fundamental Requirements

  • Must have 5+ years of application and system integration experience
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in building and delivering solutions and products
  • Must have Healthcare IT experience
  • Must have expertise with health information IT domain, IHE, HL7, Health Information Exchange, and HISP fundamentals
  • Must have expertise with Mirth Connect and other integration engines
  • Must have knowledge of CCD/CDA/CCDA, SAML, XACML and SSL/TSL certificates
  • Must have knowledge of Java, Soap, XML, MySQL, MS-SQL
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Application Servers (Tomcat, Glassfish) and networking highly desired
  • Must be able to work with remote teams
  • Ability to work independently is a plus
  • Ability to travel to client sites or other locations as required
