Strong Foundations Make Strong Organizations - Our Founder: LeRoy E. Jones
LeRoy E. Jones is a healthcare technology executive with broad experience delivering technical solutions across the health-industry spectrum, including pharmaceuticals, acute care delivery, managed care, public health, and health informatics generally.
In his year-long engagement as Senior Advisor to Dr. David J. Brailer, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Mr. Jones was responsible for managing the strategic technical directions for the national healthcare agenda. He was one of the inaugural members of the ONCHIT team. Mr. Jones was responsible for leading the effort to build technical infrastructure for nationwide interoperability. He also led the Federal Health Architecture (FHA) initiative, an e-Government line of business responsible for unifying IT architecture across the Federal government, and the Consolidated Health Informatics (CHI) initiative, a cross-government consensus group that selects standards for various healthcare domains.
Mr. Jones is a Principal and Chief Executive of GSI, LLC in Philadelphia, PA, which handles IT strategy & services, and business-process outsourcing implementation, through domestic and international engagements. He manages offshore development centers in India and formed a network of implementation partners in the United States and abroad. The healthcare practice of GSI, LLC (GSI Health) has provided products and services that are on the vanguard of the industry's collective agenda of moving information technology deeper into the care delivery process, with a particular emphasis on healthcare automation and data exchange.
Previously, Mr. Jones was the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Security Officer to Care Science, Inc., a leading provider of care management services and Internet-based solutions that help reduce medical errors and improve doctor and hospital-based performance. He was responsible for product development, data management, operational support, and IT infrastructure for sites in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and California. In that capacity, Mr. Jones was a key architect and responsible for the development and deployment of the Care Data Exchange in Santa Barbara, CA, one of the very few functioning reference models in the United States for community sharing of clinical data, and is a prototypical RHIO.
Mr. Jones also served as a vice president of Scott-Levin Associates, a Quintiles Transnational company, where he led the Advanced Technology & Development department. He also worked for Care Management Science Corporation in Philadelphia as director of Software Engineering & Data Architecture, as a senior consultant with Booz • Allen & Hamilton, Inc., and as a member of the engineering staff at General Electric Aerospace Advanced Technology Laboratories.
Mr. Jones holds an M.S. in Engineering in the Management of Technology jointly from The Wharton School and the Engineering School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Mr. Jones is a member of the Eastern Technology Council and served on the board of directors of Reboot Philadelphia.
Mr. Jones is a recognized healthcare industry expert, and a sought-after public speaker.
